EMSconnect On Shift
EMSconnect On Shift is for the men and women who live life on the rig, in the station, and on the street—when the tones drop and there’s no pause button.
Hosted by Shaun Pitts, EMS educator and street-tested provider, this podcast cuts through the fluff and gets real about emergency medicine. The calls that don’t go textbook. The decisions you make with seconds on the clock. The lessons you only learn the hard way—on shift.
Every episode brings honest stories, practical EMS education, and straight-talk discussions on critical care, trauma, leadership, mental fitness, and the realities of working fire and EMS today. No sugarcoating. No buzzwords. Just experience you can carry into your next call.
Whether you’re a brand-new EMT, a salty medic, or a firefighter who’s seen enough to know better, EMSconnect On Shift is about getting better—together.
🎙️ If you can’t change a life, save a life.
🧠 Get less dumb with EMSconnect On Shift.
🚑 Real talk. Real calls. Real EMS.

"The eye doesn't see what the mind doesn't know" Abuse, Neglect and Human Trafficking Recognition in EMS with Michael McHenry, PhD
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Do you feel like you have all the training you need on child abuse, neglect and human trafficking recognition? Yeah, me either! I sit down with Michael McHenry, Forensic Interviewer/CPS Investigator, with the State of Washington. I can't even sum up the HUGE amount of information that Michael was able to provide in this episode. He was able to clear up numerous misconceptions about EMS and what happens when we report possible abuse and neglect, and give use so easy to remember tools like the "Ten-4" rule to recognize possible abuse. This will be one of those episodes you will want to share with everyone in your agency. We are all mandated reporters and yet, most times, are lacking what is needed to report it! Please share this and save lives!
